KRTC’s Community Library In Kibera.

Due to the increasing challenge of children accessing books and access to a good learning environment in the slum, KRTC worked together with other partners to establish the community library .There was also need to cultivate a reading culture amongst the youth and especially girls who drop out of school due to various social issues. In its effort to address this challenge and ensure access to good learning material and story books, KRTC invested heavily in setting up a library. This program engages 5 full time workers who report at 8:30am at break for home at 6:00pm every day. The library is located at Kichinjio area in the Kibera slum. The library has been a great source of research, learning and point of reference to many a youth and other interested members of the community. The library stocks the works of both local and international authors.

We have made available CBC texts books, set books, story books, and internet access and e-book services. The library serves an average of 35 persons per day. It provides youth in the area with free access to education, a homework and revision environment.
